As we all know, we are in uncharted waters dealing with a virus that has created havoc on all of our social institutions, including family, schools, sports and many, many more. Please continue to monitor our coronavirus “Frequently Asked Questions” site for updates. The questions and answers continue to grow and, in some instances, are modified as we learn more.
In the midst of these challenges, I have been deeply impressed with the resilience emanating from within the university, its leadership, constituency heads, Faculty Senate, Graduate Council, our students and others. Challenging times can create uncertainty, fear and havoc. I am very proud and thankful for the on-going efforts on campus to work together, to stay focused and to be flexible and creative as we deal with many, many unknowns.
Standing together
We are also doing everything we can to approach each and every day with a commitment to the humane treatment of our family — faculty, staff, students and those touched daily by the university. Ultimately, we will be judged not only on our response to COVID-19, but by how we, as a university and community, stood together to help and assist others, particularly those who are most vulnerable.
Please know, too, that we are in close coordination with our local health officials, the governor’s office and our university partners to address a constantly changing situation. Again, thank you for your patience and support. We will weather the storm because as a community we are strong and committed to one another. The Saluki Way is to be cognizant not only of ourselves and family, but also others whose situation may be far more fragile. With appreciation to all, follow the basics, wash your hands, maintain social distance as appropriate, and maintain optimism for the future.
